We invite you to join us for for Music in the Drawing Room with Eric Yves Garcia in the mural filled Drawing Room of the Main House of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne's historic Estate on Saturday, April 26th at 7 pm or Sunday, April 27th at 2:30 pm. This lovely room was the main setting for the Lunts to bring their guests, including Katharine Hepburn, Laurence Olivier, Helen Hayes, and others to be entertained.
Eric will regale us with songs of the The Great (Anti-) Depression. These songs were not delusional during the hard times of the Great Depression but stared matters straight on and with a smirk of determination, binding people together. He will feature songs by Harry Warren and Al Dubin (from the Gold Digger films of the 1930s), Noel Coward, Irving Berlin, Yip Harburg, and Woody Guthrie.
Eric Yves Garcia is one of the most coveted, award-winning singer pianists in New York City, as well as London and Paris. He is the proud recipient of the Margaret Whiting Award and most recently was honored with the Donald F. Smith Award presented at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Originally hired and mentored by Josephine Baker's adopted son, Jean-Claude, Eric was a longtime favorite and fixture at the keys of Chez Josephine. He later enjoyed a year residency in the Two E Lounge of the renowned The Pierre Hotel on Fifth Avenue and now appears weekly in venues across Manhattan.
While performing nights, Eric’s daytime hours have been rewarded with teaching music to young children as well as offering music therapy to elders with memory loss as an instructor in the 92Y’s Program for Cognitive Strength. A graduate of Fordham University at Lincoln Center’s theater department, Eric is delighted to also continue working as an actor doing voice work. With many narrations to his credit for Audible and other publishers, he has also participated in Audible and Audible UK’s multi-cast audio plays.
