Digital Screening Event – Friday, April 30th 6-7:30 PM
Ten Chimneys along with Sojourner proudly announces the upcoming virtual screening of THE SHOT.
Sharon Lawrence, Emmy Award Winning actress and 2013 Ten Chimneys Lunt-Fontanne Fellow, who you will recognize from her appearances in Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order, Queen Sugar and Curb Your Enthusiasm stars in a reading of Robin Gerber's play, THE SHOT, about Katharine Graham. The taped play reading focuses on Graham’s troubled marriage, with the title referring to the night Phil Graham takes his own life with a hunting rifle in the couple’s bathroom. Three days later, Katherine gathered her inner strength from all she had gone through to face a Board of Directors, all men, and acquiesce to what was the prevailing thought that the Washington Post would no longer be in her family. But she knew she had the strength to take over and emerge as a leader, becoming the publisher and CEO of the Post
Following the digital screening there will be a live Talk-Back Event featuring writer Robin Gerber and actress Sharon Lawrence.
Ten Chimneys is collaborating with Sojourner which is the largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin, serving over 11,800 clients each year. Sojourner provides an array of support aimed at helping families affected by domestic violence achieve safety, justice and well-being. It is our hope that THE SHOT will help bring awareness to the issue of domestic violence, which has affected the lives of countless individuals. During this time of extreme hardship, it is of even greater importance that attention be given to these matters.
While this event is free to the public, all donations made to Sojourner are appreciated.
