About Robin Goodrin Nordli

Robin Goodrin Nordli is a classically trained actress in her 23rd season with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She holds a MFA from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and has worked professionally as an actor since 1984.

Prior to, and during her time with OSF, she has performed at South Coast Repertory, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Arizona Theatre Company, American Conservatory Theater, The Vita Shakespeare Festival, The Grove Shakespeare Festival, and five seasons with the California Shakespeare Festival, among others. She has played leading roles in plays by Chekhov, Molière, Shaw, Coward, and Ibsen as well as in contemporary works, and musicals. Her performance as Rebecca West in Rosmersholm can be viewed at the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center. Performing in Shakespeare, however, has provided her most rewarding theatrical experiences. During her career she has performed in 57 productions of 29 different plays by William Shakespeare.

In 2000 she created her first show entitled Bard Babes, an exploration of the joys and challenges of playing Shakespeare's female characters. She has also written and performed two other Shakespeare inspired shows for the Holland American Cruise Line's "Shakespeare at Sea" Program, as well as a piece for Shakespeare Santa Cruz entitled Shakespeare's Labors in Love. Her solo autobiographical work Virgins to Villains: My Journey with Shakespeare's Women premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2012.

Robin was one of 21 actors chosen for inclusion in North American Players of Shakespeare, A Book of Interviews. She appears on the cover of, and her work is discussed in the book Women Direct Shakespeare in America. Her audio recordings of Shakespearean text can be heard in Dialogue and Monologue: A Study of Shakespearean Soliloquies with Dramatic Readings published in Mandarin as well as English and she can also be heard as Regan on the 2013 Blackstone Audio recording of King Lear. The article she wrote for the Ibsen Society of America's Journal entitled "Creating Hedda" is a reflection of her experiences of performing the role of Hedda in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and was published in 2004.

She has won a Dramalogue Critics Award for her performance as Imogen in Cymbeline, a Bay Area Theatre Critics Award for Rasalind in As You Like It and a Backstage West Garland Award for Maxine in Tongue of a Bird. She is also the recipient of the Oregon Arts Commission Individual Artists Fellowship for 2009, as well as a Lunt-Fontanne Fellow at Ten Chimneys Foundation in 2013.
