In honor of Independence Day...
A letter written by General George S. Patton, Jr. to Miss Lynn Fontanne in 1945 while they were performing with the U.S.O. in Europe...
My dear Miss Fontanne:
Thank you very much for your nice letter of the 10th which I have just received.
I feel, however, that you should not thank me but that I, on behalf of the Third Army, should thank you, Mr. Lunt and the others of your cast for the great pleasure which we derived from your unparalleled performances.
Trusting that I may have the pleasure of meeting you both again, I am,
Most sincerely yours,
G.S. Patton, Jr.
General
