The Visit opened the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York on May 5, 1958. Written by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, it was "a powerful, skillfully written indictment of the way people allow money to control their lives and alter their characters." After 189 performances, it was to be the Lunts' final Broadway play. Join us as the Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Artistic Intern Ensemble offer a book-in-hand reading of Dürrenmatt's dark comedy, The Visit.

About Play Readings at Ten Chimneys
Laurence Olivier, Uta Hagen, Carol Channing - each was a protégé of the Lunts, and all credited the Lunts with helping them "get their start." Mentoring the next generation of artists was a role the Lunts valued, and continues to be a cornerstone of the programs Ten Chimneys Foundation nurtures, including our longstanding collaboration with the Milwaukee Repertory Theater's Artistic Internship Program as we present Play Readings at Ten Chimneys. We invite guests to join us in our beautiful Lunt-Fontanne Program Center as these contemporary protégés offer book-in-hand readings of the celebrated plays from the Lunts' era.
